Friends of Coptic Education
Coptic Education for All Ages
The Friends of Coptic Education are unified in our quest to further enrich our vibrant Coptic and Christian communities in the United States for generations to come.
We have the undeniable responsibility to preserve and promote the treasure handed to us from our forefathers. At the current rates of growth and various attacks on the faith, it is conceivable that by the end of the 21st century, many Christians will struggle to reconcile their faith and traditions with the world surrounding them. We must therefore ensure that the Orthodox faith will always inspire our future generations to behold our wonderful traditions and core values, grow in them, and have pride in the Coptic Orthodox faith as a treasure to enlighten the world around us.
Education is treasured in the Orthodox Christian ethos and is vital to inculcate the Coptic faith and heritage in our growing community across all ages; we value Coptic Education as a crucial element to equip modern Copts with a deep understanding and pride in our Orthodox Christian heritage, enabling us to thrive professionally and assimilate culturally in the United States. Orthodox Christian Education will undoubtedly be a vital part of the preservation of our tradition for generations to come.
Friends of Coptic Education, therefore, aims to support the Church and our community organizations, and to mitigate any dilution to the Orthodox faith across the world. To fulfill this purpose we seek to fund progressive educational strategies and actions designed to guide and inspire our community in meaningful ways to contribute as Copts in the United States. Accordingly, and in concert with His Grace Bishop Kyrillos’ education initiative, we embrace this purpose and presently contribute funds to the following initial projects:
St. Athanasius & St. Cyril Coptic Orthodox Theological School as a pedagogical pillar of intellectual and spiritual wealth to maintain the faith with advanced theological degrees;
The diocesan program to formalize the preparation of our Sunday School servants to instill the love and appreciation of our Coptic Orthodox Christian beliefs, values, and heritage into our children.
As Dean of ACTS, His Grace Bishop Kyrillos, stated in his inaugural speech, “Our children, our youth, our servants, our priests, our church and our salvation depend on the best education of scripture, the Holy Trinity and the Church. We must, together be dedicated to providing the best quality of education in whatever form or audience. Our children should not have to settle for less, because we were unwilling to provide more.”
Please join us on this sacred journey to ensure that future generations of Copts remain a beacon of the many Coptic treasures that we — and our forefathers before us — hold dear.
