Friends of Coptic Education
Coptic Education for All Ages
Friends of Coptic Education are unified in our quest to further enrich our vibrant Coptic community in the United States for generations to come.
We - the Coptic generation that ushered the unprecedented spread of our people outside of Egypt starting in the second half of the 20th century - have the undeniable responsibility for the treasure handed to us from our forefathers and our community in Egypt, for centuries. At the current rates of migration and growth, it is not inconceivable that by the end of the 21st century, as many Copts may be living outside of Egypt as within its borders. We must therefore ensure that Coptic heritage will always inspire our future generations to behold our wonderful traditions and core values, grow in them, and have pride in our faith as a treasure to enlighten the world around us.
Education is treasured in the Coptic ethos and is vital to inculcate Coptic faith and heritage in our growing diaspora across all ages. We value Coptic Education as a crucial element to equip Copts outside of Egypt with a deep understanding and pride in our Coptic heritage, enabling us to thrive professionally and assimilate culturally in the United States. As American Copts, we must grow equally rooted in our Egyptian heritage and our new home communities.
Friends of Coptic Education, therefore, aims to support the Church and our community organizations, and to mitigate the dilutive impact of the Coptic dispersion across the world. To fulfill our purpose, we will fund progressive educational strategies and actions designed to guide and inspire our community in meaningful ways to contribute as Copts in the USA. Accordingly, and in concert with His Grace Bishop Kyrillos’ education initiative, we embrace this purpose and will immediately start by contributing funds to the following initial projects:
St. Athanasius & St. Cyril Coptic Orthodox Theological School as a pedagogical pillar of intellectual and spiritual wealth to maintain the faith with advanced theological degrees;
The diocesan program to formalize the preparation of our Sunday School servants to instill the love and appreciation of our Coptic beliefs, values, and heritage into our children.
Please join us on this sacred journey to ensure that future generations of Copts remain a beacon for the many Coptic treasures that we — and our forefathers before us — hold dear.
